I Scanned the Mermaid Statue New Brighton, this took about 10 minutes of that to complete and it turned out fantastic.
Scanned using the Creality Otter

Inspired by the local legend of The Black Rock Mermaid, a mystical figure said to have appeared to a local sailor in the 18th century. According to an old chapbook, the mermaid made her moonlight home at the foot of Perch Rock Lighthouse, formerly known as Black Rock.

The trail invites visitors to follow a series of six life-size mermaid statues around New Brighton, each one crafted by local artist Barry Canning-Eaton. While the statues are identical in shape, five were beautifully decorated by local schools and a community arts group, making each one unique and full of character.

You can follow the story of the Black Rock Mermaid as told by local storyteller Cathy Roberts from Literally A Bookshop, and explore these locations along the way:

Kings Parade

Atherton Street

Seabank Road

Vale Park

Marine Promenade

Victoria Road

The trail begins at Championship Adventure Golf and winds through the heart of New Brighton, passing historical landmarks, local shops, cafés, restaurants, and scenic coastal views. It’s a fun and creative way to experience the area, blending local myth, public art, and seaside charm into one engaging adventure.

Whether you're local or just visiting, the Mermaid Trail is a great way to explore New Brighton’s rich history and enjoy its vibrant community spirit.
