Back to Back Heroes 3D Scan of My Two Boys with the Creality Otter
This one’s special. I scanned my two boys standing back to back, holding toy guns in a classic movie-style pose the kind of action stance you’d see on a film poster. I scanned each of them separately using the Creality CR Scan Otter with the wireless bridge, then carefully merged both scans into a single model.
The scans were done indoors, where the lighting was just right for the Otter to capture strong detail in their jackets, faces, and props. The whole process took around 10 minutes. Once both scans were aligned and joined, I added a smooth round base to finish the look turning it into a proper miniature statue.
After that, I 3D printed the model on my Creality Ender 3 V3 SE using standard PLA. The print came out crisp, with clean layers and great surface definition. Seeing them posed like two action heroes brought the whole thing to life.
It’s amazing how well the Creality Otter and Ender 3 V3 SE work together for this kind of creative project. The Otter handled every detail from the folds in the hoodies to the edges of the toy guns and the Ender 3 printed it flawlessly.
Tools Used:
- 3D Scanner: Creality CR-Scan Otter
- Connection: Creality Wireless Bridge
- Printer: Creality Ender 3 V3 SE
- Filament: Standard PLA
- Software: Creality Scan, Mesh editing, and slicing
Scanning Tips:
- Use steady, even lighting when scanning indoors.
- If space is limited, scan people separately and merge them later.
- Add a solid base for easier printing and better display balance.
Projects like this show how 3D scanning can turn simple moments into lasting memories and with the Creality Otter, you can easily create models that look straight out of a movie scene.
